Is Your Windows Vista Operating System Missing Tray Icons

Every so often Vista Home Premium likes to throw little twists my way.  After a recent operating system update, I noticed my volume icon suddenly vanished from my system tray.  Poking around the OS, I found the setting to restore the missing icons, but it took a bit of digging.  Below is how to accomplish this simple little computer fix:

  1. Right click on the Taskbar and click “properties”.
  2. Click on the tab “Notification Area” and choose which icons you want displayed in the system tray. Apply!

Now some of you may find those particular icon settings greyed out. If thats the case then windowsxp.mvps.org has a simple registry fix to solve your problem. Frog here, signing out!
